Go for Gold

º£½ÇºÚÁÏ is the first university in Texas to earn Green Grounds Gold Level Certification for campus-wide sustainability efforts. Re:wild Your Campus, an environmental nonprofit, honored the institution for eliminating the use of toxic pesticides on over 90 percent of campus grounds, increasing organic land care, replacing fossil fuel-powered maintenance equipment with electric ones, promoting soil health and fostering biodiversity across the university.

This landmark recognition began as a student-led initiative to reduce the use of harmful chemicals and ensure campus grounds reflect the university’s values of sustainability and care.

Rooting for Success

The Arbor Day Foundation has named º£½ÇºÚÁÏ as a 2024 Tree Campus for the 10th consecutive year. This accolade honors the university for utilizing trees to improve the community through tree education and creating service-learning projects that encourage engagement among students who value sustainability.

In addition to receiving this recognition, º£½ÇºÚÁÏ has achieved numerous accolades commemorating trees across the university; 2023 Austin Tree of the Year (Unique Tree) for the St. Joseph Hill Twisted Oak; 2022 Austin Tree of the Year (Large Tree) for the beloved Sorin Oak.
